I love Bella's ASOV series

What can I say? I love Bella's ASOV series. I really did not think I would like this book. Boy was I wrong. It's about a girl named Violet. She lives in Matrus, the land ruled by women. Here, she is a murderer. But she is given an opportunity that she can not refuse. A chance to be free from prison and to possibly see her brother again. The catch is, she has to go to Patrus, the land ruled by men. The land where women are less than even pets. She needs to go under cover to help retrieve a silver egg that was stolen from Matrus. To do this, she must pretend to marry Lee, a Matrus born man under cover in Patrus. While Violet is dressed as a man,so she can go around tow to get info on where the egg is, Violet runs into Viggo, the one of the wardens in Patrus.He figures out who she is. instead of turning her in, he returns her to Lee. Knowing Viggo needs money, Lee makes an offer to Viggo that he can not refuse. Take Violet with him everywhere he goes, in exchange for what he would make as a warden. While spending time with Viggo, Violet starts having feelings for him that she has never felt before. When Violet gets there, she must decide if this is all worth it. Can she really help recover the stolen egg while making sure she doesn't let her heart get stolen in the process by Viggo.

Adventure Mystery Gender Division and Romance

Amazing adventure of deceit, mystery, gender division and sparks of romance. Bella Forrest has outdone herself in this amazing novel full of twists and turns, lies and surprising loyalties. This is her first "non shade" novel I've read. As a loyal ShadeAddict (if you haven't read the Shade series... What are you waiting for? Start them right after reading this book) I feel almost guilty for saying Gender Games far surpasses anything I've read from Bella Forrest to date. I've already preordered The Gender Secret (the second book in this series) and can't wait for it's release in November to find out what happened to Violet's brother, cross my fingers for another steamy reunion with Viggo, and perhaps find out how Ms Dale knew exactly what to train Violet for....

Loved this book!

I gave this book a 5 star rating because it absolutely drew me in from the beginning. I loved the main character, Violet. She was a super tough girl who had been dealt a pretty crappy hand. And the development of the society she lived in was amazing. Unlike anything I've read before. I will admit I am a huge Shade fan so I knew this book was going to be good and it did not disappoint. My hope for the second book is to finally give Violet some good in her life. And by good, I hope it's all Viggo. I love me some Viggo! Great job Bella! I will be impatiently awaiting the next book!

Good, but not great

Most of the books I have given a 4-star rating to would be in the category of "If they'd only done this thing differently, I'd have given it 5." This book is different. I'm taking literally the definition "5 = I love it!" and on that basis this book cannot get 5 stars, though I can't say exactly _what_ I don't quite like.
The book does a good job of taking the reader through the steps needed to explain "why the calculus works" -- and it really doesn't require calculus to understand most of this book, though you need calculus to understand the _motivation_ for a lot of what the book does. You need only have a decent grounding in high school geometry and algebra to understand the book. Still, it isn't an _easy_ read. I've found myself putting the book down and coming back to it later several times. Yet I can't say that the book is hard to read because it's badly written; I think it's written decently well. I think it's just that the topics it covers are harder going than a lot of the math I read.
So, while I don't _love_ this book, I'd recommend it to someone who wants to know something about the motivation for all those weird epsilons and deltas and the non-intuitive definitions of topics like continuity. It does that job, and does it as well as any book I know of.

Careful look at the basis of calculus

An unusual and interesting look at the basis for calculus and analysis. The only book I know of that provides a strong motivation for the Dedekind/ Weirstrass foundation of calculus. Recommended for anone doing analysis.

Quite accessible for anyone who has done first year or even high school calculus

Wiesner argues that the tragedy of the war itself was appreciably worsened by forced relocations and that this suffering could not have been relieved, because the amount of land on which the largely rural evacuees could be safely resettled was repeatedly diminished by Communist incursions and the demands of combat. Meanwhile, American bombing of the North, much less destructive to civilians than fighting and bombing in the South, was used by the totalitarian regime to instill hatred against the United States and its South Vietnamese ally. When in 1975 the North Vietnamese overran the entire South, masses of Vietnamese, for the first time in their history, fled from their country.

Timely contribution.

The Vietnam War instigated by Ho Chi Minh caused 12 million people to be forcibly relocated: one out of two South Vietnamese had been a refugee at some point in their lives.
Anti-communist ideology was the cause of the 1954-55 exodus during which one million left North Vietnam for the South. From 1966-72, artillery, bombing, communist repression forced peasants to leave their villages to migrate to cities. The atrocities of the Viet Cong during and after the 1968 Tet attack caused people "to vote with their feet": they ran away as soon as they heard communists were coming. This was also the cause of the 1975 diaspora during which two million people escaped Vietnam on rickety boats. At least 500,000 others drowned or died from other causes at sea.

The author who is to be congratulated for his in-depth analysis of this important problem.

Engr. Segun is an Agricultural Engineering graduate from the Federal University of Technology, Akure. He had a Masters Degree from the prestigious University of Ibadan, Nigeria. Currently, he is a PhD student in the Department of Agricultural and Environmental Engineering, University of Ibadan, Nigeria. He started his professional career as registered member of the Nigeria Institution of Agricultural Engineering (NIAE) in September 2001, became a corporate member of the Nigeria Society of Engineers in 2006 and was granted full registration as professional engineer duly registered with the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN) in 2011. He is a member of the Special Marshal, RS 9.22 of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) of Nigeria. He was listed as a member of the academia in Nigeria in 2011 and honoured with a Pillar of nation building award same year. He has made significant contributions to research and development through books and chapter contributions, journal publications, monograms and had contributed knowledge to the fields of agricultural engineering and safety.

Awesome Ecclectic Selections

I have ordered the Best American Short Stories and the Best American Mystery Stories for years. This compilation was an Amazon suggestion based on those purchases and it's a winner. Unless you subscribe to dozens of magazines and cull them for the best writing, you'll never find an easier way to enjoy concise, well written pieces by several outstanding journalists in one place.

uneven, occasionally wonderful

This poorly designed volume reprints wonderful work by Luke Dittrich on the Joplin tornado, Lawrence Wright on a longtime adherent's difficult break with Scientology, and excellent offerings from Wesley Yang, Chris Hitchens, and some others. Some of the "winners" left me cold, but taste varies, I suppose. The book wastes 30-some pages listing people associated with the project. (Important to them, not important to me) It's a good companion for a flight across the country.

Good read

I wasn't in love with every selection, but overall this was a very enjoyable read. I particularly liked "The Apostate," "Arms and the Dudes," the story about Anonymous, and "The Hox River Window." However, even the pieces that I didn't love were worth reading. I would recommend this for anyone that enjoys reading nonfiction writing.
