"My Toddler Talks is a very accessible and readable handbook that describes tips and play strategies that caregivers can easily implement in their daily interactions with their little ones. The book focuses on play routines, but the tips, modeling techniques and strategies can be incorporated into any daily interaction with a little practice. The tips and "do not list" are perfect for parents, childcare providers, and others who are looking for simple guidance on what they can do right now to positively affect a toddler's language development."-Dana Childress, M.Ed.
From the Author
Why did I write My Toddler Talks? To help parents and professionals get their toddlers talking! When I first began treating toddlers who were delayed with their speech development, I struggled to find easy to understand, step-by-step guides for my parents to read. Collecting information from various resources was very cumbersome and trying -even then, I couldn't find practical and hands-on resources. So, I decided to write a workbook for my parents! My Toddler Talks is the culmination of several years of analysis of current research and work experience. I have completed all the play routines, performed all the techniques and strategies and continue to implement play routines and train current clients at my private practice Scanlon Speech Therapy, LLC.

My 2 year old son is in speech therapy, and this book really coincides with the techniques we are learning from the speech therapist. This is great for me to continue working with my son in our home - the ideas in this book are excellent, with great specific instructions. The introduction is a must read - do not skip!

Highly recommended!
By Christy W., Early Childhood Special Education teacher
This book has been helpful to me as I teach young children who have speech and other developmental delays. This book will also be helpful to parents and professionals who work with children ages 0-3 years. The writer describes specific activities that will help toddlers develop language and communication. Each activity includes a list of materials that are needed as well as an outline of steps in order to carry out the activity. This is a very practical and hands-on book that will guide you to help your child or student develop in language and in other areas of development. The writer describes how to work with young children in a patient, sensitive, and loving way in order for each child to develop at their own pace. The writer combines a very strong understanding of child development with practical activities to help your child or students develop language in a fun way.
